About the Rockland Wildfowlers Association
Preserving a Historic Tradition
Rockland Wildfowlers Association was formed in 1985 to protect the historic wildfowling traditions and shooting rights of Rockland Broad. With increasing pressure on wetlands and access across the Broads, the club was established to ensure responsible management and long-term protection of one of Norfolk’s most historic shooting locations.
A Unique Broadland Heritage
Rockland Broad has been linked with wildfowling for well over a century and remains the only Broad in the UK where organised wildfowling continues under dedicated management. The area is closely associated with the legendary marshman and punt gunner “Old Scientific” Fuller, whose life on the marsh became part of local Broadland history.
Conservation and Responsible Shooting
Today, the Association manages access across marshes throughout the Norfolk and Suffolk Broads, promoting safe, sustainable and conservation-led wildfowling. Working alongside BASC, local landowners and conservation groups, the club remains committed to protecting both the future of the sport and the wetlands that support it.
